Can you tell me about your company?
Bluebird Portraits is a photography studio specializing in portraits of pets and children and providing families with timeless artwork to love and cherish for generations. We were founded 20 years ago by a husband and wife portrait photography team in Detroit, MI. In raising their own family, they learned that capturing images of of their family expressing happiness and joy and displaying those images in their home helped establish a sense of family and brought warmth and joy to their home. Bluebird Portraits reflects their mission to help families bring warmth and happiness to their homes through beautiful portraits of their children and pets. Bluebird Portraits now has locations throughout the United States.

Why do I need to pay a reservation fee to secure my studio appointment?

Can I walk in to the studio or do I need an appointment?
All of our studio photography sessions are by appointment only. Walk-ins are not available, as we reserve our studios exclusively for only one pet family at a time.
How much does a studio session cost?
Our studio sessions cost $250. This cost is applied as a credit toward your purchase of portraits, albums, or digital images of your pet.
What do I need to bring to a studio session?
Just you and your fur baby! If you'd like to take photos with your pet, please come dressed accordingly. We'd recommend wearing solid colors and something you'd wear to an event or party. In addition, if you'd like your fur baby to wear anything special (e.g., fancy collars, bow/bowties, favorite toys, special outfits, etc.), please bring these to your sessions.
Can I bring more than one fur baby?

Absolutely! We are happy to accommodate up to three fur babies in our portrait sessions.

What happens after the photography session is completed?
After your session is completed, you will be given the opportunity to book a virtual viewing session to review the images we captured. Virtual viewing sessions are done over a video call from the comfort of your home or office. Most families choose to schedule the virtual viewings where the entire family can participate!
Will you shoot pictures outside of the studio, on location or at my home?
We are strictly focused on photography sessions at our studio. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible for us to bring our studio set to your location.
Do you take photographs of anything other than pets?
Yes! We also offer portrait sessions for children in our Magical Forest studio. Please CLICK HERE to learn more.
How long does it take to get images that I ordered?
Our portraits are typically shipped within 6-12 weeks, sometimes sooner.
How long does it take to get a studio appointment scheduled?
We usually can get you scheduled in our studios within one to two weeks.
Can you tell me how to prepare for the photoshoot?

Before coming for your session, we recommend taking your fur baby for a walk to give them some exercise so that they are a little tired and hungry when they arrive at the studio. Please have them groomed and their hair/fur brushed. They want to look good too! Bring their favorite treat. We have some, too!

How can I pay for my portraits?
We offer multiple payment options to all of our customers should they choose to preserve and display some of the images we capture. Our payment options include credit card, Affirm®, and even pay-over-time layaway options.
How much do families typically spend on portraits?
Most families spend somewhere between $500 and $5,000 with us. It all depends on how many images they would like to preserve and how they would like to display the artwork.
Do you have a price list?

However, it is very safe to say that most customers spend between $500 and $5,000, depending on how many images they would like to preserve and how they would like to display the artwork.
